Chiropractic Manipulative Therapy
The most common therapeutic procedure performed by doctors of chiropractic is known as a “chiropractic adjustment.” The purpose of the chiropractic adjustment is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypomobile – or restricted in their movement – as a result of a tissue injury. Tissue injury can be caused by a single traumatic event, such as improper lifting of a heavy object or an automobile accident, or through repetitive stresses, such as sitting in an awkward position with poor spinal posture for an extended period of time. In either case, injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that can cause inflammation, pain, and diminished function for the sufferer. A chiropractic adjustment of the affected joint and tissues, restores mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness, and allowing tissues to heal.
We utilize numerous manual techniques in addition to Chiropractic Manipulative Therapy, including joint mobilization, soft tissue mobilization, Active Release Technique, passive and assisted exercise, PIR Stretching, PNF Stretching and manual traction. These techniques are utilized to assist in effecting structural change and improve function.
Foam Roller Stretch/Exercise
Self Myofascial Release Techniques, often referred to as SMRT, utilizes cylindrical foam rollers to help rehabilitate a wide range of injuries. Popular with athletes, therapeutic specialists and fitness enthusiasts, its use is thought to stimulate regenerative growth and to reduce chronic pain through trigger points in the fascia, or covering of the muscle. The muscles, bones and joints are insulated by a specialized connective tissue called fascia. Along with tendons and ligaments, fascia is a type of dense connective tissue and it covers the whole body from the head to the toes. There are three layers to the fascia -- the superficial fascia, the deep fascia and the subserous fascia. Deep within the fascia there are speculated to be trigger points that are precursors to certain types of muscle injuries. A foam roller is used to massage these triggers points and reduce the risk of injury. VIDEO
There is a marked difference between general exercise, which is taking a healthy functional structure and improving it, and rehabilitation, which is taking a dysfunctional structure and making it functional. We apply a patient-centered model to our rehab with the emphasis on recovery, reactivation and self management.
We use a variety of hi-tech and low-tech rehabilitative equipment and techniques to accomplish our goals with each individual patient. It is a ludicrous idea that everyone needs the same exercise in order to overcome their injuries or conditions. Identifying the proper exercise regime is crucial in attaining optimal results. All exercise is customized to the individual patient to allow for the best success.
Spinal Decompression is an all natural, non-invasive alternative treatment for low back and neck injuries and chronic spinal conditions. It is especially helpful in treating herniated and bulging discs along with their associated pain and conditions. It is proving to be a safe and viable alternative to spinal surgery and the associated risks of surgery.
Our doctors have been highly educated in utilizing Spinal Decompression and have undergone post graduate training specifically focusing on the use of Spinal Decompression. Because of this experience, we are able to properly analyze the patient in order to determine the most efficient decompression technique needed to attain optimal results of treatment. All Spinal Decompression treatment is administered by our doctors personally.
Many of our patients come to see our chiropractor to address a specific pain symptom such as back pain, neck pain or headaches. While our chiropractor will address each patient's specific condition with chiropractic care, we often find it helpful to "coach" our patients towards achieving a healthier lifestyle. For example, there may be certain activities that you should avoid or do differently to prevent yourself from unintentionally aggravating your particular health challenges. The goal of including lifestyle advice with a chiropractic care plan is to help each and every patient achieve the fulfilling and happy lifestyle they deserve, one that is full of the activities that are enjoyed most. We recognize that every single one of our patients is a whole person, and we use our expertise to help them reach total health and wellness.
Nutrition and Supplementation
No matter how hard we try, it is nearly impossible to attain all of the necessary nutrients in our diet. Most Americans are drastically deficient in even the basic nutrients. Many of us are taking vitamins and a wide variety of nutritional supplementation which are of sub optimal quality, we can call them “fast food” vitamins.
We offer an array of only the highest quality nutritional supplements needed to significantly aid in your healing and also to attain optimal health and help prevent disease.
Massage therapy does more than make you feel good, it can actually help your body achieve balance and health. Massage therapy offers a natural treatment approach which actually relieves musculoskeletal pain for many patients. Our chiropractic office provides specific massage and muscular therapy that is complimentary to their chiropractic care. Each massage therapy plan is tailored to meet the patient's unique pain condition or injury. The benefits of massage therapy may include the increase of blood circulation, a localized reduction in swelling and the relaxation of muscles. Massage has been known to relieve muscle pain and spasms, increase a patient's range of motion, while also aiding in a patient's recovery. Some investigative studies have even indicated that a single session of massage may help boost your immune system!
Dry Hydrotherapy (Hydromassage)
Dry Hydrotherapy combines the time-proven benefits of massage, heat, and whirlpool in a single system. This treatment allows the user to stay clothed and dry; providing a hygienic and comfortable experience. It is extremely comfortable and works extremely well to relax muscles and reduce pain.
Low Level Laser Therapy (Cold Laser)
Low level laser therapy is a painless, safe, non-invasive, drug free treatment which is used to treat a variety of pain syndromes, injuries, wounds, fractures, neurological conditions and pathologies.
It is very helpful in the treatment of carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
We utilize numerous physiotherapy modalities to assist in reducing pain, inflammation and spasm and to promote healing, including electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound, interferential therapy, spinal decompression, mechanical traction, infrared light therapy, cold laser, cryotherapy and heat.
On site X-Ray
We utilize X-Rays, when necessary, so that we immediately and accurately assess a patient’s condition.
